CuzTina and the Highway to Hershey - Days 118 - 119

Hello to the newest additions to the Murphy lineage. The Minnesota Murphy's gave birth to Kenna Maureen just after midnight on 8/1 at 8 3/4 lbs (congrats Matt and Melissa). And on the Gibson side of the family, congrats to Drew and Megan brought Lilly into the world at 8 1/2 lbs. But cuzTina introduced me to my biggest new relative Matt her "latest, greatest and final" husband. cuzMatt and cuzTina hosted a family and neighborhood BBQ, with all the Gibson's in attendance and cuzMatt cooked up a storm.

Following the cookout, the focus of the party shifted to the garage. Like the Treason's, the garage has become a focal point of the Haller house. Neighbors pour in many a weekend night, congregate in the dozen plus assorted chairs, and pass the evening making each other laugh. The garage is replete with TV, stereo, fridge and freezer and the rolling tool bench is used as the coffee table. All they are missing are the rolling office chairs for greater mobility.

cuzMatt graciously lent me his wife this morning, and cuzTina and I started out for our 2 day trip to the the Jersey shore. With not much along the way, we headed straight for our first night's destination - Hershey, PA. After settling into the lodging, it was just down Chocolate Road to Hershey Park and Chocolate World.

We took the free 15 minute automated ride/advertisement of the Hershey factory process. During daytime hours, there would probably have been an hour wait, but by arriving near closing, we were able to slip right on. It would have been a huge letdown to have waited for this hokey ride, but as it was the relatively bland description of the the chocolate making process coupled with intermittent singing automaton cows made it a hoot. We then spent 45 minutes touring the gift shop area with cuzTina deciding on the personalized over sized Hershey's Bar for her hubby. Hopefully it neither melt nor gets eaten before the flight back.

Tomorrow we will complete the trip to the coast. In the Road Food book, there is a place called Pat's in Philly that serves cheese steaks. I'm not sure how any food with cheese whiz can be good, but we're thinking of giving it a try for brunch.

I'll take some Jolly Ranchers and a cheesesteak from Pat's please.

BTW - You might want to stay in Hoboken until Thursday morning. I went by Helmer's last night and the owner said they are opening up on Wednesday (for lunch). Mmmmmmmm, sliced steak sandwich.....

Surely you jest regarding Pat's. Always a toss up - Pat's or Geno's....

Um. Is that a car seat in the cuz's garage? It looks like it's on wheels. NOW THAT is what we need.

Say hi to not only the family, but the wonderful Joisey shore for us.
